Would you consider occasionally playing the organ at Mass?

Following the tragic and unexpected loss in January 2026 of Alison Hastie, our main organist and choir director, the parish is looking for someone who could help out from time to time at the organ.  At present, our remaining organists, plus the parish instrumental group, can only just cover both Sunday Masses. If for any reason an organist can’t play, there is often no one to stand in.  9.15 Mass can be particularly problematic in this respect.  You do not have to have experience of church organ-playing, although that would be ideal.  But if you are a pianist or keyboard player, our team would be happy to give the help and advice needed for an easy transfer to the organ, as well as all the music. The pipe organ in the gallery is one of the best in Scotland, while the sturdy little electronic at the front of the church is very straightforward to play.  You would be welcome to play either. If you would like to know more, without commitment, have a word with the organist after Mass, or contact Patricia Russell (pprussell@blueyonder.co.uk, 07980 017669).
